The ATIM Top 60 Masters 2019 award ceremony in New York honored artists who transcend boundaries, and among them shone Subodh Maheshwari, whose work epitomizes the fusion of cultures, emotions, and techniques. Recognized for her Outstanding Contribution to Arts & Culture, Maheshwari’s art—vibrant, spiritual, and politically charged—offers a mirror to the world’s complexities through a kaleidoscope of color and symbolism.

Born in Aligarh, India, and now based in California, Maheshwari’s journey reflects in her canvases. Her pieces, like Past, Present, and Future Tease (gouache on paper), weave Mughal and Rajasthani influences with contemporary Western themes, addressing everything from women’s rights to global warming. As she notes, “My paintings give me space to feel and express my visual delight in color, shape, and form.” Her mixed-media mastery—oil, acrylic, watercolor—creates a tactile dialogue between tradition and innovation.

Beyond the studio, Maheshwari is an educator, teaching at community colleges and workshops, ensuring her artistic philosophy inspires future generations. Curated by Viviana Puello, the ATIM Top 60 Masters showcase celebrated this very alchemy: art as a living testament to the artist’s surrender to creation, where, as Puello writes, “the masterpiece outlives the master.”
