America 250: A Reflection on Liberty

May this milestone inspire us to carry our light forward.

Dear friends, family, and art lovers,

As we look towards America’s 250th anniversary this July 4, I wanted to share a reflection through my artwork.

I painted the Liberty Series because the Statue of Liberty is a symbol of light: a steady presence that invites us to look upward, to remember what we aspire to be, and to carry hope forward with care.

I reimagined this iconic statue from my own point of view as an Indian immigrant, adding Hindi text and patterns inspired by the Rajasthani movement in India. Art enthusiasts have enjoyed this series in both American galleries and international exhibitions such as the Olympics art exhibition in Seoul, South Korea.

Today, I’m sharing these paintings as a quiet tribute to the enduring spirit of renewal, courage, and community.

With gratitude,

Subodh Maheshwari, MFA
